70th anniversary in Jaffna The Communist Party of Sri Lanka celebrated its 70th anniversary in Jaffna on 06th July 2013. The event took place at the Jaffna Cooperative Society building, with the participation of a large number of Communist Party (CP) members. Former Prime Minister of Nepal, Mahadev Kumar, was the Chief Guest at the event where Ministers Vasudeva Nanayakkara, D.E.W. Gunasekara, Prof. Tissa Vitarana and Chandrasiri Gajadeera were key speakers. The streets of Jaffna are decorated with red flags and cutouts of late Communist Party stalwarts in the North and the South, in preparation for the event.

70th anniversary in Maharagama Communist Party of Sri Lanka marked its 70th anniversary on 3rd July 2013 at the National Youth Council Auditorium, Maharagama. Leader of the Communist Party in Nepal and former Prime Minister Madev Kumar Nepal took part as the chief guest. He has delivered a lecture on "The challenges to leftist movements in South Asia". A photography exhibition that depicts the history of the party also held in that day. |

Let us bring out “Aththa” once Again !April 2nd, 2013 We wish to recall the birth of ‘Aththa' newspaper on December 14th 1964, as a response to the crying demand of the progressive forces, at a time when they were voiceless and when the entire print media was under the control of the Reactionaries. The Communist Party of Sri Lanka took the initiative to bring out Aththa, which played a historic role, providing political leadership to the progressive forces, during the years 1964-1994. |
